*A LOT of you had hot takes about Magic Kingdom being overrated and preferring other parks like EPCOT instead!*

Today we are talking all about your Walt Disney World hot takes! What are those opinions that you hold that might not be the popular opinion when it comes to Walt Disney World? Do you think something is overhyped, not hyped up enough, too expensive, too weird or you just don’t get it? We asked our followers on Instagram and y’all delivered with the responses! So without any further ado let’s jump into your Walt Disney World hot takes!

“Joffrey’s > Starbucks.” - @disneyisourcure

Listen…we think this depends entirely on what you’re getting. Generally speaking when in Rome we think getting black coffee from Joffrey’s is good and comparable to any hot coffee you could get from Starbucks. But when you start getting into the cold coffees they get to be a bit much. The iced coffees can tend to be a little acidic for some reason and we don’t exactly know why. BUT every single hot coffee blend we have ever tried from Joffrey’s has been great!

“There are too many rides like Dumbo, Flying Carpets, Astro Orbiter etc." - @stephanie.haynes

We would agree with this. Dumbo, Aladdins Magic Carpets, Astro Orbiters, Triceratops Spin are all basically the same ride. You get into a ride vehicle of some kind and fly in a circle with the option to maneuver up and down. There are definitely a lot that have just been copied and pasted with a different theme. But if you’ve got little kids and they are too short for some of the bigger rides it is nice to have a few options available for kids so we can understand why they did it. Though it is weird that three of them are located in the Magic Kingdom.

“I don’t like characters.” - @jendavis1011

Again, if you have kids characters are great! It’s super fun for them to meet them and you can experience it with your child but when we were visiting pre-kids…we didn’t like meeting the characters. It’s awkward and you know it’s just an actor so it can get weird!

*There are a surprising number of rides that function EXACTLY the same as Dumbo the Flying Elephant!*

We agree. They are really built for comfort which we love…I (Jessica) have a few but wouldn’t buy anymore. They are a weird shape though and it’s hard to figure out who it would be really flattering on.

“We need more breakfast food variety!” - @jaesyf

YES! We agree! There is not nearly enough breakfast options! Especially in the quick service category and especially within the parks. Even when you move toward the table service category it is limited. Of course you can find Starbucks in each park and some options but not nearly enough.

“Moana Journey of Water would’ve looked better in DAK.” (Disney’s Animal Kingdom) - @magicallymazi

We haven’t seen this yet! As of the time of this writing we are heading to Walt Disney World in a few weeks and will get to experience it in person but from the photos we’ve seen it does feel like it might have made more sense in Animal Kingdom but hopefully when they have the rest of EPCOT renovated and the “neighborhoods” fully developed it might make more sense.

*We love this right but it is WILD how long the queue always is!*

“Peter Pan’s Flight is not worth the hype, especially for the wait time.” - @chedbree

Now we love Peter Pan so we don’t agree that it’s over hyped BUT we do think it’s crazy how long that wait time is and that people wait in it! We have no idea WHY the line is always so long! For us, this is a Lightning Lane only attraction!

Okay A LOT of people have hot takes about Magic Kingdom! We can totally get that it’s the most crowded because a lot of people who visit for just a day or want the classic Disney World experience will spend most of their time at Magic Kingdom. But we don’t think there’s nooo good sit down restaurants, we like Skipper Canteen and Be Our Guest personally. However, we do agree that Disney could be better at improving the dining options within this park BECAUSE it is so popular! But this is interesting because we hear this often. Even one of the agents from People Mover Travel (Tyler’s travel agency) has said that her little one likes EPCOT more than any other park.

“Enchantment is one million times better than Happily Ever After.” - @kianajeanne.f

Okay…Enchantment has grown on us…but it is still so much worse than Happily Ever After! The biggest thing is that Happily Ever After uses the original music from the movies whereas all of Enchantment is randos singing the songs in slightly different versions. It sounds like a studio chorus trying to recreate the original music and it’s not as good!

Listen…you’re probably right Trish but we love Figment. Everyone knows that Figment is overrated and weird but yet they still love Figment and will always ride the ride! There’s something nostalgic about it for those Disney history nerds. We probably agree with you..but we love Figment!

“Cheeseburger pods at AK (Animal Kingdom) are thumbs down. Too much bun, not enough filling.” - @razorinthenight

We agree! But they did used to be amazing! There was so much filling and it was delicious but they have changed them! The last time we had them it was so underwhelming with such a small amount of ground beef and way too much bun.

“People who spend half of their time at the resort are crazy and give me anxiety.” - @_rylee_alyssa_

Here’s the thing…you spend so much money on the resorts so we think you should spend some time there to make it worth it! They’re a destination in itself! But we do think that if you’re paying for the park tickets but not utilizing them because you’re at the resort instead is a little stressful. If you spend four or five nights at a Disney resort but only get park tickets for two or three days and intentionally plan resort days we think that’s a good medium!

*We do agree that Spaceship Earth could use an update…but she is still an icon!*

“Epcot needs to add back the educational parts it was known for.” - @doitblondie

We agree with this one! One of the coolest parts of EPCOT, especially World Showcase, was learning about the countries! It is possible to speculate that these types of things will come back as they reinstate more of their Cultural Representative program but there’s been nothing from Disney to confirm that.

“Spaceship Earth is a huge disappointment. The outside is iconic but the inside is dated and sad.” - @borgman.jennifer

In fairness, this is definitely dated! It was rumored that Disney was going to update it but it seems to have been put on hold. We think it’s possibly because so much of EPCOT was under construction already. But they definitely could use an upgrade, technology has come so far and there is so much more to include in the scenes.

Jessica’s Hot Takes

*This is a photo of the Grand Floridian lobby pre-renovation…we don’t love it. We are hopeful that the renovations look better in person!*

Dole Whip and Mickey Bars are absolutely overrated. We spoke about this is in our snacks episode but I could probably go the rest of my life without having them again!
Jungle Cruise…meh. I’m not miserable riding it but I am happy to skip it. I don’t think it’s worth it, especially for the wait.
Kite Tails was awesome and I cannot believe that it didn’t last!
The Grand Floridian lobby is ugly. Of course the first time we saw it, it was very grand and thrilling but I also thought..”huh…so this is the most exclusive and fancy Disney resort? Really?” Then of course they were redoing it and I was so excited to see the changes but it looks the same. Like exactly the same and it’s not that pretty!

Tyler’s Hot Takes

*Carousel of Progress deserves an update! Give us a new scene!*

La Cava Del Tequila has sold out! I previously talked about this in another episode so I won’t dwell on it but they have really gone downhill in the quality of their margaritas and despite that they are constantly busy!
Beauty and the Beast Live in Hollywood Studios. Again, I have spoken about this previously in another episode but I think it’s outdated and due for an overhaul!

Tron was not worth the wait. The years and YEARS that we all waited were not worth it. I liked it, it is a great ride and I’m glad it’s here but I don’t think it was worth all the wait and all the hype.
I don’t find trading pins to be fun. I don’t get the whole thing because generally I buy a pin that I like or has a sentimental meaning to me. It’s just not for me.
Carousel of Progress needs a major update. Like they need to take it down for like a year and completely redo it. Reworking it and adding an additional scene at the end would really make it a lot better.
Disney needs water bottle filling stations! They claim to be all about doing the right thing for the environment, conservation etc and yet they don’t have filling stations throughout the parks and instead you are being forced to either get a disposable cup of a water from a quick service or paying six bucks for a plastic bottle of water. Putting them in could be the easiest thing for them to do to stand behind their environmental and conservation claims! The other aspect of this is that it’s an easy way to improve the guest experience and consider their budgets, health (heat stroke concerns etc) and also of course be good for the environment.
