Top Ten In The Magic Kingdom!

Hello friends!

Today we are covering our top ten favorite things to do, or watch or see in Magic Kingdom! We specifically chose to not include food or snacks in this list however but don’t worry, we will undoubtedly cover that topic in future episodes! (but we may have cheated a little and included something to do with food in this list…)

We each selected our top ten things to do, see or experience in Magic Kingdom to try and answer the question, “If someone only had one day in this park, what would we recommend that they do?” This was a CHALLENGE! We had to really work hard on cutting down our list because there are TONS of things that we love to do in this park and would recommend! We did not see one anothers list before hand so we had some overlap but surprisingly enough, we didn’t see eye to eye on every ranking! Lets get into it!

Jessica’s Top Ten

#10 - Pirates of the Caribbean

The smell of the pirate water is such a specific and nostalgic smell that I miss when I’m away from Disney! That combined with the songs and the fact that it’s an attraction the whole family can enjoy makes it a must do for me.

#9 - Dapper Dans

These guys are always out on Main Street singing and I feel like everyone, in the right setting, loves a barbershop quartet! They’ve got props, they tap, they’ve got jokes, they sing and they are so talented! I don’t think I’ve ever heard them performing and didn’t stop! And if you happen to catch them at Halloween, they transform into the Cadaver Dans!

#8 - Haunted Mansion

This is such a classic ride! I love heading in here during the hottest part of the day because it’s cooler, it’s dark, it’s disorienting coming in from the bright sunlight but in the best way for such a this ride! My favorite part of this ride is when you leave the attic scene and your doom buggy turns backwards and you move down into the graveyard. I learned a couple of years ago that this represents you falling from the house to, supposedly, your death and now you’re a ghost. And now you can see all of the other happy haunts, it’s unbelievable!

#7 - Philharmagic

Everytime we have ever taken someone to Disney or have had someone traveling with us, this is always in their top three at the end of the trip. It’s classic Disney magic with amazing music and even though we’ve seen the show probably forty times…I’ve cried every…single…time.

#6 - Gift Shops with Iced Coffee

This is my most different and most specific one but it’s just so good! You can get iced coffee at a few places in Magic Kingdom: Starbucks, Joffrey’s or one of my personal favorites back in Frontierland (there’s almost never a long line and they have good breakfast sandwiches) and then I like to take that coffee and stroll through the Emporium to browse and look at everything that’s there!

#5 - Festival of Fantasy Parade

This parade is so good and the song WILL be stuck in your head for the rest of your life but you see SO MANY CHARACTERS! I can almost barely think of one you don’t see so if you’ve got a kid who loves characters this gives them a chance to see a ton in one spot!

#4 - Space Mountain

Not only do you feel like you’re a million miles away on this ride (up in space obviously) but the “retro futurism” that emcompasses this attraction, and a lot of Tomorrowland, is so cool! And I find that everytime I ride Space Mountain I get a different feeling, sometimes it feels a bit more thrilling than others but it’s always so much fun!

#3 - Fireworks

As we’re recording/filming/posting this episode the show is still Enchantment but come early April, Happily Ever After is returning! I love this show so much that when we’re at home and missing Disney we’ll even put on the Happily Ever After soundtrack. But even Disney fireworks in general, the shows are worth staying for. Even if you don’t get a spot right in front of the castle you can watch the fireworks and hear the music from nearly anywhere. You may not get all the projections but the magic is still there!

#2 - Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

I think this is probably the best ride at the Magic Kingdom! I feel like its so well themed, for example, the area where you’re going through the mine is unreal! It’s exactly what I pictured in the movie and there’s so much happening throughout the ride consistently that it’s always exciting!

#1 - Royal Friendship Faire

I love this show for a few reasons! You get to see some kind of rarer characters like my favorites, Tiana, Naveen and Louis the alligator PLUS you get to see the Fab Five and they blink, they talk and are more animated then when you see them on Main Street or in a meet and greet! There’s also something SO magical about it being in front of the castle, with classic music and the fireworks that just makes me think of the Disney we remember from years past! Plus it happens a few times a day so you’ll definitely be able to catch it during your visit!

Tyler’s Top Ten

#10 - Pirates of the Caribbean

Like Jessica, I also love the smell of the pirate water…the Disney dark ride water…if you know, you know! And I agree, it’s fun that the whole family can ride it, plus there’s just so much history behind it as well!

#9 - Space Mountain

This is another ride that I absolutely would not want to miss any time I’m in Magic Kingdom! Riding it at anytime is amazing but my brother and I rode it during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and all the lights were out and they use a different soundtrack which just reignited my love for the ride - it was really cool!

#8 - Peter Pan’s Flight

For me, Peter Pan’s Flight is best when you ride it in the morning. There’s something so special about going into the park first thing as everything is just opening up and riding it first thing in the morning! Something about making it the kick off for the day…ooh it’s just so good!

#7 - Resort Hopping On The Monorail

I know this isn’t IN the Magic Kingdom BUT hear me out. If I was having my perfect Magic Kingdom day I would go into the park in the morning, leave for some resort hopping and then go back in the afternoon. Spending time in some air conditioning and checking out the lobbies is one of my favorite things to do on a Magic Kingdom day!

#6 - Tron

This is a more hopeful one for me, I am really excited that Tron is coming! I have heard from tons of vloggers who have visited other Disney parks around the world that Tron is one of their favorite Disney rides EVER so I am very excited that it’s finally coming to Magic Kingdom!

#5 - Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

This ride is so fun! It’s so so smooth, like impossibly smooth and I love how the ride vehicle sways back and forth. I do wish it was little bit more thrilling and faster but on the flip side because of that it does mean that younger kids can ride it as well and there’s something exciting about that being their first roller coaster!

#4 - Character Meet and Greets

This is one that I never ever thought would be on my list, until we had kids! If I had to pick one thing that’s a must do with the family, it’s character meet and greets. We used to avoid them like the plague but now that we have our daughter, Genevieve, who is four, there’s nothing more magical than watching her meet the princesses!

#3 - People Watching

I could go in and literally do nothing but sit in an alcove on Main Street or at the end of Main Street looking over the castle drinking coffee and watching people enjoy the parks. There was one time specifically that we got to the park early and we went over to Frontierland and just walked around with our coffee, it was hot and I was drinking hot coffee and I had jeans on for some reason but it was great! Sometimes just doing nothing but being in the park is perfect, we highly recommend you take even ten minutes in your day to sit and people watch!

#2 - Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover

This attraction is so relaxing I always want to go around like three or four times! It’s a great way to take a break, cool down with a little breeze and see some cool things throughout Tomorrowland like the inside of Space Mountain and one of the best views of the castle!

#1 - Happily Ever After

It is one of those shows that I could see a thousand times and I still cry every single time. Especially when Tinkerbell flies over..ugh I’m gone, I’m done, I’m done for the day! We’ve gone to Disney with people who aren’t huge Disney people who just lose their mind over that show! You can’t deny Disney knows how to put on a great show!
